I wrote an earlier message that I had jumped the gun. I agree with all you
write here, except I do wonder about Allen since John Tarver who m. Martha
Mathis named a son Allen. He had a daughter Elizabeth which was the name of
the wife of the Methodist preacher John Tarver. He also had a daughter
Nancy. I have seen Nancy given as the wife of William Mathis/Mathews, but no
evidence presented as to that. So it would appear that John and Martha
named girls for Elizabeth, mother of John, and Nancy, mother of Martha.
Then, I would think the Allen, son of John and Martha Tarver, would have
been named for brother Allen.

I do not have the type of evidence I would like to have for the parentage of
John Tarver, b. c. 1789, and m. 1812, Martha Mathias. I grasp each tidbit
of information that helps build a case as to his father. I often wonder
what became of the land of John Tarver who received land in Amite Co., MS,
in 1807[?] I am sure that this is the widower of Elizabeth. Then he
married the widow of his neighbor Chadick in 1811 in Ms.

It sure helps that you have time to discuss this today. I had lunch with my
cousin and was at my wits end as to how to proceed. She is 86, has a heart
condition and other ailments. It took all her efforts not to cry in public.
I called her about how the 1800 census of John in Barnwell had helped me see
things a bit clearer. She perked up tremendously.
