This line was not among the heirs of the John Cockerham Sr estate ...

A WACTOR Family Bible is claimed to name Dempsey's father as
Benjamin. Someone around Meadville, Franklin Co., MS, I think, owns this
old Bible - I have not seen it. Sharon Smith, of the Dempsey line, says
her grandfather saw the bible years ago ... "According to my grandfather,
the Wactor Family Bible states that Dempsey was the son of Benjamin
Tarver."

Dempsey & Wesley are sd to have married sisters ... Rachel & Mary Bunch -
marriages recorded in Wilkinson Co., Mississippi for both of them.

estate year 1854.
According to a sworn affidavit by the newspaper to the JP at Amite on
January 19, 1855, this was published in the Liberty Advocate in Liberty,
Amite Co. for three successive weeks on 23 & 30 of December and on 6 & 13
of January.
NOTICE
By Virtue of a Decree of the Probate Court of Amite Co., in the State of
Mississippi, made at the December term, 1854, thereof, the undersigned
Guardian of the minor heirs of Dempsey Tarver, deceased, will on Monday
the 22nd day of January, 1855, between the hours prescribed by law, at the
late residence of Dempsey Tarver, Deceased, in Franklin Co., expose for
sale, at Public Auction, to the highest bidders, on a credit of sale the
following lands, viz;
The east half of the north west quarter, and the east half of the south
west quarter, and the north west quarter of the north west quarter of
section number 10, in township number 6, of range number 6, east.
The purchasers of said Real Estate will be required to give bonds with
good and sufficient security, payable in One and Two years for the
purchase money.
