Teresa,
I would deeply appreciate it if you would post the Stewart deeds in Rowan
Co. NC. Thank you for the offer.

The emigrant Lazarus Stewart and his wife Margaret Stuart had a son named
John. Is (1st?) wife was Frances. He was born abt. 1712, died abt. 1763.
This John had a son named John. Lazarus' other son, David had a son named
John. James may also have named a son John. However, I don't have a Hannah
as the wife of any of these. I don't know the identity of Margaret Stuart's
parents or who her siblings were.

Those that I know of with the Boone family name was Mary Boone, d/o James
Boone and Elizabeth Bush Grimes. She married John Wynne, b. abt. 1708, d.
1752 in Winnson, Bertie Co. NC. After Mary died, John married Sarah Van
Pelt.
John received a grant of land, 400 acres in Bertie County, the 20th day of
April, 1745, from Gov. Gabriel Johnson (B.G. p. 114). In 1740 he was County
Clerk; Magistrate 1744; County Surveyor 1744. John Wynne and Thos. Sutton
were Church Wardens of Society Parish, Bertie Precinct 1735-1736 (Hathaway
B.2, p. 305). His children as given in his will were:
1. James Boone
2. Mary Ann
3. Watkin William (see next)
4. Sarah Amelia
5. John Augustus
6. Wynney Caroline (youngest dau)

He appointed his wife Sarah and his brothers, Benj. and Wm. and his sons,
Jas. Boon and Watkin Williams, as Executors. In Colonial Records (Vol. V,
p. 1170) he is referred to as John Wynn, gentleman of Bertie (1749), born
1708.

John didn't have any connection to the Stewart/Stuarts that I know of, so I
have wandered. :-))

I have several connections to Morgan, Pennington, Osborne and Lewis and
Mulkey families which may also be connected to the Boone family. One of the
most interesting may be one connection of the Morgan and Salisbury family
(since my Stewart and Salisbury lines seem to have early connections in VA,
NC and KY): William C. Morgan (1785 VA-1815 s/o David Morgan) and Elizabeth
Salisbury (1779 VA-1850 KY) William was killed by Edward Osborn in debt
dispute with William's father, David. His father was also killed. His
death left three children who inherited his share of David Morgan's land and
slaves. He also had two sons with Elizabeth Salisbury whom he never
married. After his death, his mother bequeathed land to Elizabeth's sons.
As children they used Salisbury as their last name, but as adults the sons
used Morgan as their last name.

I found this on http://penningtonresearch.org/family_groups/fg2000-04.htm:
Richard PENNINGTON was born about 1752 in PA and died on 21 Dec 1813 in
Sparta, White Co., TN. He appears in the roster of Capt. Osborne's militia
of 1780. Richard PENNINGTON married Hannah BOONE on 5 May 1777 in Salisbury,
Rowan Co., NC. Hannah BOONE was born 24 Aug. 1746 in Berks Co., PA. She was
the daughter of Squire BOONE and Sarah MORGAN, youngest sister of the famous
Daniel BOONE. Hannah had been married to John STEWART before he was killed
while on an expedition with a Daniel BOONE party. They had four daughters
before he died: Sarah b. 1765 (m. John OSBORN), Mary b. 1766 (m. Solomon
OSBORN), Rachel b. 1768 (m. James KING), and Ann b.25 Feb. 1770 (m. James
LEWIS). Hannah died 7 Apr 1828 in Tompkinsville, Monroe Co., KY and was
buried in Monroe Co., KY, Old Mulkey Cemetery. Richard PENNINGTON and Hannah
BOONE had the following children:

Joshua P. PENNINGTON (1778-about 1868)
Daniel Boone PENNINGTON (1781-1865)
John Stewart PENNINGTON (1784-1859)
Abigale PENNINGTON (1787-about 1840)

Hi Sharon,
I have some Stewart deeds in Rowan Co NC that probably involve your line, if
you want I can post them later today. This will give you a good idea on the
neighbors and allied families of your Stewarts. PEMBERTON, reminds me of
the BOONE family, are you sure you did not have a JOHN STUART that married
Hannah BOONE, sister of Daniel? John Stuart was killed by Indians while
traveling with Boone in the 1760's. The Boones left PA with the Morgan,
Linvilles and others for Rowan county at an early date.
As to the COMBS they were numerous in both Rowan/Surry and SW VA. From my
knowledge they were assoc. with a family named RIDGE and may have been
Tories in the REV WAR. There were also many COMBS all over Va., not all
were related some seem to be from MD. There is a very good Combs web site
on the net. I would search www.google.com. Search "Rowan CO NC"
and(Combs) just like I wrote it here. You could also search your Stewarts:
"Rowan CO NC" and(Stewart) or "Iredell CO NC" and(Stewart). You will most
likely find most of the Stewart line of Rowan for Samuel and Lydia Harrison
Stewart, they also had a son named David, so don't let that throw you off,
and this is not your line.
Best wishes,
Teresa Stuart de Rios
