Have you tried the World Family Tree cds from Broderbund? They have an index
on line in their Family Tree Maker web site. If you put in the name it tells
you which of their CD's contains the same name and gives you a range of
dates (sometimes very large range tho) and state or nation the name came from.
That can get you started. But the census records are indexed also - are you
not near an LDS Family Research Center or genealogy library?
If not, I will do 1 hour's search for you in our fine library here in
Houston free. I can check the names you gave in the indexes for those states
and years, and tell you what county the names are found, if any. You can
then decide if you want me to do more research for you. I normally charge
$15 an hour, but as I said, I will do the first hour for you free. Further
than that may be beyond your budget, but you can at least find out the
county to go to that way. Many states have on-line county genealogy pages.
You might be able to go that route. THe family tree maker cd's are between
$35 and $50 each. I'd just look the people up for you if I had them, but I
only have the index and it seems you have THAT much info already. Let me
know before Friday if you want me to do this. Friday is my library day this
week.
