For the benefit of any new cousins on the list -
During the holiday period, we began a project that will hopefully help us
all connect and find our ancestors. Some of us have already found
additional generations of our lines, helped our cousins extend the knowledge
of their lines, and found connections to several new cousins!! I am asking
that you send several different posts, using the information you have for
your line. Each weekend, I will resend this post for new cousins who have
joined us. As soon as you feel comfortable doing so, we would like to have
you join in and participate.
Please send as many generations of your direct line of the surname of this
list as you have found. If you only know two generations, that is fine - if
you know fifteen, that is also fine. In this post, please include the
birthdate and location of your ancestors, and the states they migrated
through, as well as the name of their spouse, date and place of death,
siblings and their spouses, all children and their spouses, etc., that can
be saved in the "library" mailbox I have set up for the list. This needs to
come TO THE LIST so that everyone can look for connections.
And, if you have found the immigrant who first brought your line to this
country, please send this information in a post TO THE LIST with IMMIGRANT
as the subject line. Maybe we can find descendants of all the immigrant's
children on this list!!
Also, if you have a public figure in your line - a minister, Rev. War
ancestor, Civil War ancestor, politician, doctor, teacher, or the like,
please send the name of the person and relevant information in a post TO THE
LIST with VIP - (state) in the subject line. These people are
sometimes easier to spot, and we may be able to connect more readily if we
know our relationship to them.
If you have, as I do in some instances, only the name of a grandmother with
the surname of the list, please send her name and the name of her spouse,
along with the year (as closely as you can guess, if you don't know) she was
born and where they lived, in a post with GRANDMOTHER - (state) as the
subject line. At some point, I will combine these, and we can look for them
amongst the siblings/children in the known families.
All of this information will be kept in the "library" for our future
reference as we find more about our ancestors. PLEASE SEND THESE POSTS TO
THE LIST so that each of you can keep your own library, if you would like,
in addition to the one I will keep for the list.
All of this will help us, but is totally dependent on each one of us sending
our information. I will be sending (and getting ready to send) mine, and
hope you will do the same!! Let's let 1997 be a year we find some ancestors!!
ALSO -
If you have not already done so, please send your snailmail address to me
(privately) <> so that if you ever go offline, you can be
reached if a cousin finds a connection -
I have a special mailbox set aside for these; please use SNAILMAIL as your
subject line. I do not read these posts as they come in; they are saved for
future reference.
These addresses, obviously, will not be available to anyone unless someone
asks for a specific individual address for a specific genealogical purpose.
