I'm enjoying the postings by Glen and Anna, saving all in case I make a
break through.
I'm still stuck, have been for about 10 years.
Eliz. (LONG?) b abt 1827 NC *most likely Burke Co., md. ?? THOMPSON
she was listed in 1850 Union Co. GA with her parents: James LONG b abt
1800 NC and Uly/Yula/Julia CANSLER
her children: Louada b abt 1844 NC James M. (manuel?) b abt 1847 NC
Caroline Ann b abt 1849 GA
1860 she is missing, assume she was with husband, in 1870 she has
added Arminda to family group, b 1860 GA
Lorinza or Lorinzo b abt 1866 GA, James b abt 1867 GA and Emily b abt
1869 GA are next door with her dau Ann,
but whether these were Ann's children (she and all children are
THOMPSON listed) or hers (Eliz.'s?) I do not know.
Ann would have been 19 when first child born so it's possible they
are hers. Yet, the child Arminda in her mother's home
is age 10, making Ann about 13 when that child was born, most likely
this is her mom's child, which indicates the
THOMPSON husband was living in 1850, but not on the 1850 Union Co.
GA census.
He could have been mining in Polk Co. TN or over the border in NC.
Eliz. may have only been visiting with her parents
during the census, or maybe staying with them until her husband had
a permanent position.
Whatever reason, she was not with him has created a real hardship
in finding him. I can not locate marraige record, nor
death. Maybe a will will turn up later in Fannin Co. GA but right
now I do not know of one.
the dau.s md. Christopher Columbus FORTNER, apparently the son of
Cornelius FORTNER or FARNER of Polk Co., TN
the other dau. md. Samuel F. HUNLEY or STANLEY.
anyone? DEBBIE
