Monya,
thanks for the TN THOMPSON data.
I recognize some of the BLOUNT Co. TN THOMPSON men, mostly David THOMPSON
who md. Mary KARR/KERR. David THOMPSON was a white man who md. (1) Nancy
RIDER/RYDER whose family is mostly seen in Polk co. TN and Monroe Co. TN,
but David and Nancy had children in Union Co./Fannin Co., GA too. David and
Mary were also in Fannin and Union Co.'s
I am not a descendant (as far as I know) but am looking for my mystery
THOMPSON man in NC, TN and GA and came across this data on David.
Also, still looking for possible husband for this woman:
Elizabeth THOMPSON b abt 1827 NC
lived in 1850 Union Co. GA with James and
Uly CANSLER LONG who were from Burke Co.
NC
Elizabeth had 3 small THOMPSON children:
Lavada (Louada?) b abt 1844 GA
James M. (Manuel? nicknames: Manning and
Manny) b abt 1845-7 NC
Caroline b abt 1849 GA
later added Arminda b abat 1860 and possible
Emily, Lorenza and another son James. (this could also be grandchildren).
James M. thought he was from TN (lived on the TN/GA border) and his children
stated they were
from TN, from Lookout Mt., Chattanooga TN.
Census shows this as incorrect, GA and AL being
marked along with TN (census data not consistent).
I know that Lookout Mt. is a range of mts. extending into TN, GA and ALA and
this probably caused some confusion, as well as they may have been
"migratory", husband may have been a miner.
Is there anyone who recognizes this Elizabeth as being a possible "wife" of
one of their lines ?
I know that Louda and Caroline, one had the middle name of Ann (Think
Louada) and they md. Columbus FORTNER (maybe Cornelius FARNER's son of Polk
Co. TN), and the other md.
either Samuel HUNLEY or STANLEY.
James M. THOMPSON md. Sarah (Matilda?) LEATHERWOOD or SHELTON or BEARD, and
his children were: Henry Miles "Milas", Hiram Virgil "Harm", Sarah Louada
"Ada" and "Lodie",
Florence "Flo", Cidda Arvie/Orvie, Cordelia "Della".
these girls md. Lee ANDERSON, Frank ESSARY,
Rufus Edgar MOORE "Ruffie", John DUNNE,
Arthur BARREND or BARRETT and one husband I do not have.
Henry Miles "Milas" md. Maggie MYERS whose family came out of Rhea/Meigs Co.
(formerly they came out of Greene Co.), and his brother Hiram Virgil md.
Belle SATTERFIELD.
I have gathered up alot of the birth certificates (if found), death
certificates, social securities, cemetery data and funeral info. and still
can't find out who the husband of Eliz. THOMPSON was nor who the wife of
James M. THOMPSON was. The only thing I am SURE of is her name was Sarah.
ANYTHING?
Debbie

Maria Swan THOMPSON became the wife of Dr. Richard Harrison, of Greenville,
or Spartanburg, South Carolina and who was the son of Major Richard
Harrison, of the revolutionary war? General Waddy THOMPSON as he was
called, and was, in fact, was admitted to practice law in 1819, and settled
in Edgefield District, South Carolina in 1826. He afterwards went to U. S.
Congress; he was born in 1796, and all the dates fit. His time between
1819, when he was admitted to practice law was spent somewhere, and it
might have been in Roane County. Biographical data relates that he married
a daughter of William Butler, but dates are not given, or places. She may
have been a daughter of a Butler, who first married a Birdwell, but who was
