This note is as much a reply to the request as an outline of how my
brain works, when I do research on the net. There might be some hints
for newbies as to how to find info there. There rest of you can delete
this note if you are not interested. P.S., ignore spelling...no matter
how many times I check, I miss a couple.
I can't make any guarantees, but I shall give it a go today. I will give
you an couple hours of my time, on the net, and forward what is found,
if anything. As I am in Canada, it does us both an injustice not having
immediate access to the British files. I have, though, found some
researchers in Australia seem to have a good handle on U.K. research.
You may consider giving them a try.
My "attack" shall be as I would normally start out doing... for the
following line of key words, all joined [using COPERNIC]:
Thomson, Thompson, Tomson, London, Derbyshire, genealogy ...in different
groupings and combinations. I shall check the IGI first, if there is
nothing there, then it is doubtful that much else exists, elsewhere.
I would also check on, and get a list of, all libraries within a few
miles of your "point of origin," along with museums, historical
archives, and universities...they all may have web sites, librarians,
and repositories of local material, that may be of help. Contact the
librarian, historian or archivist for assistance. Mail, call on the
telephone, or contact via e-mail with your needs.
You may want to investigate other surname line, not immediately apparent
as connected, from the same area of the location under study. Since
populations were relatively small, once, families intermarried much more
than today. Whereas, on first look, a surname does not appear to have a
connection, it just may. And a person investigating a totally unrelated
line, may have relevant information to share. Some of the sites will, on
first glance appear to be unrelated, but search them anyway, just in
case.
Visit each link, and then go to the Browser's Edit, Find...allow the
browser to do a name sweep of each link's pages -- saves time.
So, here is what was found in my first sweep, for just the key words
Thompson, Thomson, Tomson, London, Derbyshire, and genealogy [in your
searching, leave off the spaces, and do them in various combinations]:
--apologies for repeats first off...and don't get excited by the number,
that is just what turned up...they all may be useless...that is the
chance we take in this "art" of research...
[NB: each site may not be useful, in and of itself, but it may have
links to other more useful sites.]

OTRAM SEARCH
THE FOLLOWING PERSON's LINKS WOULD BE WELL WORTH THE SEARCH, and CONTACT
THIS PERSON...THEY APPEAR TO BE A VERY HIGH POWERED OTRAM RESEARCHER,
GIVEN THE NUMBER OF HITS THE SEARCH ENGINE RECEIVED...here are just a
couple, to save me time... pop into your search engine:
Otram,Derbyshire, genealogy as your key words, no spaces...I have noted
just a few of the many...
http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/DBY/Eyam/MIs.html
http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/DB41/DBY/Outram04.html
THE FOLLOWING APPEARS TO BE A GOLDMINE OF LINKS FOR OTRAM made by
another family researcher
http://www.genuki.org.uk./org/PageStats/counties/DBY/links.txt
There are many more links, but I have run out of time...they all appear
to have been mounted by the same group of persons...

IGI...search ...there are three entries for a marriage citing for Debra
Outram, md to Samuel Thompson. Note the name spellings at each citation.
The additional info at the bottom of the entry tells the researcher that
there are three persons on line, researching her. The next task is to
find out whom. Then check the batch file number. That is always a good
source for "others."
Debora Outram
Female
Event(s): Birth: About 1783, Of St George Hanover Square, Westminster,
London, England
Christening:
Death:
Burial:
Marriages: Spouse: Samuel Tompson
Marriage: 17 MAR 1804; St George Hanover Square, Westminster, London,
England

Visit [ http://www.xmission.com/~country/reason/sealing.htm ] for a good
read on the topic of "sealing."
"Sealings for the dead, couples and children (includes some living
spouses and children) 1943-1970; heir indexes, 1943-1965" Apparently, a
LDS member has "attached" him/her self to this person as a potential
relative, and is "sealing" there fate, re pentacost. "As most people who
are familiar with Mormonism know, dedicated Mormons believe in sealing
women to men and children to their parents for all eternity. Few people,
however, are aware of the fact that the early Mormons sealed living men
to other men in an unusual ceremony known as "the law of adoption." Thus
a man could have any number of men adopted to himself as his sons for
eternity." "In theory the importance of adoption lay in the validation
of one's sonship in the family of God." Although a noble gesture, the
article expounds on other problems with this tenet.
Batch Number: A457488 Normally you could check out the batch file for
more info, but in this case there does not appear to be a link.
Sheet: 00
Source Call No.: 457488-457492
Type: Book
So, I went to Hugh Wallis' excellent Batch File site at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyDerby_(A-M).htm#PageTitle
and checked out Derbyshire, Eyam and found the BF numbers to be
Eyam
C054431 1787-1868 [these would be christening dates]
M054431 1787-1837 and 1850-1852 [these would be marriage dates]
I clicked on each high-lighted link to be taken to the actual batch file
references at the IGI. Unfortunately, there was no Daniel found. Reason:
no one is doing research on him. The data has not been mounted to the
IGI yet and is therefore, not available. He is not to be found at this
batch file reference but exists somewhere else. BUT, let us not be
dissuaded...there are two Thompsons here...and they may be related to
Daniel...think positive. There are two different Thompson families
represented here...in such a small location, the odds of them being
related are very high...go with it. Elizabeth and James are probably
cousins.
