Subject: [THOMPSON] John THOMPSON m. Winifred BRICKEY in 1781 Botetourt Co.,
VA.
X-Brightmail: Message tested, results are inconclusive

Hi Fellow THOMPSON Researcher and/or Descendants

John THOMPSON, Sr. and Johanna/Hannah WALDRUM m.
about 1753-1755; son John THOMPSON, Jr. was born about 1758-1759 in
Botetourt Co., VA., and m. 21 Jun 1781 in same county, VA. to Winifred
BRICKEY, dau. of Jarrett BRICKEY, Sr.
John THOMPSON, Jr. d. 27 Mar 1843 in Greene Co., IL. I claim his dau.
Hannah THOMPSON (1785-1846), wife of Israel STRAIT as my ancestor.

On another family group sheet I have, Robert CALDWELL (or
CAULDWELL) b. 1762
in Morris Co., N.J. and his mother as a Elizabeth THOMPSON. Robert m.
Mary
BALL about 1794 in Bashingridge, N.J., and her mother is given as Rachel
THOMPSON or TOMPKINS.
I have not started to research these two THOMPSON ladies. Do you have any
suggestions for me?

Back to Hannah THOMPSON mentioned above. Hannah's dau. Elvira STRAIT
(b. about 1820 IL. and d. 1886 IL.) m. Elihu WILLIAMS 13 Nov 1836 in
Greene
Co., IL. The ceremony was preformed by a John THOMPSON, possibly her
grand-father. Elihu WILLIAMS' parents [are not well proven] Jonas
WILLIAMS & Elizabeth
"Betsy" THOMPSON. This "Betsy" THOMPSON could be another THOMPSON line
or an older
sister to the Hannah THOMPSON already mentioned; therefore, Elihu WILLIAMS
& Elvira STRAIT could have
been first cousins. Does anyone have good evidence one way or another?

From "a family tree" off of Ancestry.com has Elizabeth "Betsy"
THOMPSON was born, 28 Nov 1778 in Cane
Creek MM, Orange Co., N.C., and [her husband] Jonas WILLIAMS was born
before 1774
in Morgan District, Rutherford Co., N.C. And Jonas was a son of Benjamin
WILLIAMS & Winefred BRIDGES. What does "Cane Creek MM," mean?

Winefred & Benjamin WILLIAMS had another son, Thomas WILLIAMS b.
about 1800
in Barren Co., KY., who m. Martha THOMPSON 1819 in Barren Co., KY., dau.
of
an unknown THOMPSON. Martha THOMPSON was b. 1802 in Barren Co., KY. Does
anyone know Martha THOMPSON's father's name?

Another Benjamin WILLIAMS son, David WILLIAMS, b. 1805 Barren Co.,
KY. m. Nancy Jane THOMPSON 18 Feb 1822 in Barren Co., KY. (father not
given); David W. WILLIAMS d. in Putnam Co., MO., 12 Oct 1862. That source
does not say when nor where Nancy Jane WILLIAMS [nee THOMPSON] died. Does
anyone know Nancy Jane THOMPSON's father's name?
