The following is posted for the benefit of those Thrift reseachers who
have not connected to the Wiregrass, Ga. Thrifts or those decendants of
George Thrift of Fairfax Co Ga. This info is taken from correspondence
received pver the years. I don't vouch for the info.
1850 Cens. Newberry Co. S.C., HH #1199 Michajah Epps, Robert Thrift in
household 14 or 11 yrs old, b S.C.
Reord of Wills, 1770-1815 York Co. S.C. No. 117, p 397, S.C. Archives:
Abrahm Thirft, ...mentions wife, but not by name, and Spencer Thrift, no
relationship mentioned. Wife and Spencer to be executors, S.Meek, Ezekial
Gillham and Shadrack Thrift. dated Sept 19, 1806. Probated Oct 28 1806.
Sarah Adeline Thrift, b 1843, Guilford Co. N.C. d feb 8 1917. Marr William
Henry Wilks.
1860 cens. Guilford Co. N.C. William H.Thrift, 45, miner, bo N.C.
wife: Levida J. Thrift (maiden name Mann) age 40; Dolly Bet, f, 20;
Mary L., f, 18; Sarah Thrift, 16, f; Emily, f 14; Wm. H., 8 mons.
The foregoing family was the family of Ruth H.Kirkman, Rt 1, Box 300, Oak
Ridge N.C. 27301. (1980 letter).
This family was also the family of Lillian Henderson, 128 davis, Wyandotte,
Mich. Her grandfa was William Dobson Thrift. (1976 letter).

Clay co. Alabama. Education: elementary and hi school, Haralson Co,
Tallapoosa, Ga. Three years Southern Christian College, Auburn Ga. Admitted
to bar in 1925, law office of Ellis & Bell, Atlanta.
Fa: William T. Thrift, b Sept 22, 1876, Clay Co. Al. Marr Feb 7, 1897, Clay
Co. Al., Baptist., mo Cynthia Jane clark, b June 6, 1879, Christian Church.
Paternal grandfa: John Thomas Thrift, Chambers Co, Ala. marr in Clay Co. d
Mar 28 1927.
William Dobson Thrift, son of David Anderson and Lydia Parsons. William had
Eli zlinza Thrift who had one son and no daus. Another source says David
Dobson had two brothers, William and Isham.
Alledgely, these Thrifts were from Dinwiddie and Brunswick Cos. Va.

Nita Berry of Saluda, S.C. lines: (1965)
Her grandmother was Mary Irene Thrift, bo 17 Mar 1865, Newberry Co. S.C. , d
8 sept 1944 in saluda. Mary was dau of George W. Thrift and Susan Duncan
(both of Newberry Co. S.C. George W.' s fa was
William Thrift and wife , Rebecca. No location given.
Howver, 1850 cens. of Newberry Co. shows, in HH 1216,:
William Thrift, age 41, farmer, b S.C.; Rebecca, 35, b S.C.
Issue: John, George, Calvin, Pulaski, Allen, Spencer, Mary A.
All b S.C. John was 14 yrs. old and Mary was 2 yrs. old. There was a child
born every 2 yrs.
This family was in the Bush River area of Newberry Co. which was the site of
a Quacker settlement.
