You may do this using the Tools=>Text Editor option under the top menu.
Just type "TMG.INI" (no quotes) in the Open window when it appears and
click on the Select button. When the text editor window appears with the
file displayed, scroll down to the [Directories] section, the Backups entry
should be just below that.
While the above is correct, you may check this more easily in TMG by
selecting Tools=>Options from the top menu to display the System
Configuration Screen. Then select the Advanced tab to see the Backup field
entry under the Directories block.
One other thing to check is what is set as the Temporary Work Drive. This
should be set to your fastest drive. Normally this will be your C: drive,
but may be any other drive. To set this, you must select to do a backup
from within TMG. Select File=>Backup from the top menu. The Back Up Data
Set window will display and the Temporary Work Drive field is in the lower
left corner.
Keep in mind the following when setting this option:
- Never set this to a floppy or CD drive.
- If the main hard drive is partitioned into two or more logical
drives, there is no advantage to changing this to one of the logical drives
other than the C: drive.
- The work drive should be the fastest drive and should have plenty of
room on it (normally something like 2 to 3 times the size of your largest
dataset).
- Even if TMG is installed on a physical drive other than C:, it would
be good to have the Work drive set to C: as that would normally speed up
the work since it would be on completely separate drives. To set a work
drive to the other than C: when it is the same logical drive as the TMG
drive would normally be less efficient as the seek time would increase
(seek time is the time required to find the location of a file in the drive
and the lower the seek time, the faster the program would run all other
things remaining the same).
