Thanks Terry, I've got the non-FAT32 Win95. Using the Compression feature I
did create virtual drives some time back, which I suppose had a similar
result to partitioning, but even though I've ruthlessly deleted stuff from
the hard drive it seems like I have less and less space. Seems like I must
have taken off more programs than are there now - over time I've removed
the likes of Quicken, Masterclips, Photo Deluxe, just about all the stuff
that came with the computer, ClarisWorks, etc. Unfortunately I added
CleanSweep after most of the other programs so it has not been very useful
in helping me clean up after deletions, not having had the chance to record
the installations in the first place.

I did try to keep all my programs on C and the data on H, but C is too full
for any more programs. Oh well. It's more a nuisance than anything else.

Hi Karla --

It depends on which version of Windows95 you have. There was a later
release of
Win95 that also provided for FAT32, which is the feature that lets you use
large
drives more efficiently. Perhaps the easiest way to find out is to open
Explorer,
right click on the C drive, and choose Properties from the drop-down menu.
If you
have the new file system, about the 3rd line down on the General tab will
say
File System: FAT32.

If you don't have FAT32 in use you will want to keep the drive partitioned.
But
in my opinion, unless the partitions are causing you a problem you are
better off
keeping them even if you do have it. This assumes you do not have
applications
scattered over several drives that serve no purpose for you -- in that is
the
case I would be inclined to combine them (if you are using FAT32).
