Subject: TMG-L: OT? - Census 2000
Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2000 00:40:52 -0500
Hear, hear! No one counted me in 1990, so as soon as I got the flyer on my
doorstep re working on the census, I called up for info. The number I
eventually got through on was 888-325-7733, which I'm guessing is like an
800 number as it used my area code to give me a local number to call. There
are office and enumerator jobs and one first takes a brief test to verify
literacy. (I'll be taking my test on Wednesday.) The work is part-time
temporary, paid per hour.

We often complain about the crummy census records we get, with poor
handwriting, human errors in transcription, etc. In the next few weeks
you'll have a chance to leave a legacy and perhaps touch your descendants
many generations after. The Federal Census is coming and they need (paid)
help to enumerate people missed in the mailings. Consider becoming part of
this census.
I have nothing to do with the US government, just want to see some good
records kept. Thanks for your time.
