The process will be that you will still have four datasets after you
convert to TMG. Somewhere you will want to "clean up" your data. That
may be by doing the "cleanup" in the four separate TMG datasets or after
merging. The merge process by itself is not a trivial matter and will
take some work. You will have to merge each dataset separately (except for
the first time when you will merge two datasets together. During a merge
process, one dataset will be appended to the other. Afterwards (either
after each dataset merge or after all dataset merges), you will then have
to merge the duplicate persons. Following a person merge, you will then
need to edit the records of the merged person to eliminate the redundant
tags and data. This will have to be a manual operation with some
copy/paste work in order to retain the integrity of the dataset.

If this sounds like a lot of work, I would have to agree. Depending on the
number of duplicate persons, it might be a great deal of work. But it will
go a lot faster than you think and if your duplicates are true duplicate,
then it will be even easier than the usual merge process. And when you
have finished, you will have a single dataset that you can be very proud of
and will serve you well.

If you haven't visited my website already (URL below), youu might look at
the TMG Tips & Helps page for some things that may helps you.

Hope this helps -
