Several people have answered Cheryl's questions about having one or several databases. For my two cents worth, keep everybody in one. I color code for a number of things, but not family line. I have a FAMILY flag. There are 8 choices of values, representing my 4 grandparents, and my wife's 4 grandparents (H for my Grandmother Hansson's line, O for my GM Olsson, etc.). I have added a few more choices, for people who are somewhat connected but peripheral. On the basis of that flag, I can print lists, or create a temporary custom picklist, or whatever.
