Dave may tell you if he has not already that one of the problems of
having insufficient memory is having too many TSRs (programs that are
running in the background, i.e. Norton antivirus) An antivirus program
is not bad in and of itself, but when you load it in with 6-12 other
programs that will show up as icons in your system tray it will close
you down. So choices have to be made. Every software mfg wants their
program to have an icon in the system tray, but we need to make
choices until Microsoft fixes the system. The remaining icons that I
have include a task scheduler, a resource meter, Norton antivirus, a
mem manager, a clock, and then when some of my other programs are
running icons are planted in that tray. It takes resources to support
them. I even ended up taking my number of programs residing on the
task bar down to four from ten or twelve that I had previously. Having
them there takes resources. Why on earth they gave you all those
options if you cannot afford to use them even with today's mega
powered computers is beyond me. Adding ram will not help!!!!
Hope this helps.
