You have to be careful with the term 'Common Law Marriage" because in some
states that were laws that actually established the existence of such a
union based on the couple meeting certain conditions that were stated in
the statues. Common Law Marriages could actually be established in the
state of Ohio until sometime after the mid 1980's. The State Legislature
changed the law at that time and while they are recognized if they were
established in another state, they can be not longer created in Ohio.
