Paul-
I posted Bob Velke's answer to this question in a previous message, so you
have the "how to do it," but then thought it might be helpful to add on what I
chose for an alternate sentence. As Bob notes, this is a global change, and it
can be a little tricky devising a sentence that will fit all the various
situations----did the couple actually have no children, did they have children
and you don't know who they are, do you know the children but are just not
interested in following this line, etc.
The sentence I settled on to enter in English 2, as an alternate
translation for the two standard sentences in English that read "There were no
children of" and "There were no known children of" is : "No descendants have
been traced for"
This covers the majority of issues for me, as there are more people whose
lines I am not continuing, or whose children are unknown. It isn't perfect,
however, and for those couples who you know were childless you have to edit
the sentence in your word processor.
Perhaps others can come up with a better alternative sentence.
