I don't think there's a magical way! You could do as you say and reference
the same exhibit twice. However I think that could be confusing and
difficult to maintain.

My solution would be to put all your exhibits into a sub-folder (or
sub-folders) of your data-set on the PC's hard drive. As long as you use the
same folder structure (eg c:/tmgw/mydata) on each machine you should have no
problem. This has the added benefit of keeping all your information in one
place (important for data integrity).

I realise there might be issues regarding disk space here, but I can't think
of any other solution.
