Doug - What I do to avoid this conundrum is to rewrite my tag sentences. I
usually have them set up so the first part of the sentence is followed by a
period (which I put in when I write the sentence pattern). Then I have the
<[M]> as if it were a separate sentence following that period. (I didn't
like the semicolon with the treatment of the memo as if it were an appended
part. I wanted it to appear as a unique sentence.) Then TMG actually
generates a 2-for-1 sentence with the memo field appearing as the second
sentence. That does mean, however, that what you put in your memo field as
to be a complete thought and not a sentence fragment.

Perhaps because I am so picky about consistency in how I enter my data, I
may never see the light at the end of the tunnel in cleaning up my data. I
work on one individual and keep generating an individual narrative until it
is perfect before I go to the next. If I add new information or tags, I
repeat the individual narrative until it is "clean." I even have a flag
"narr-vud" for narrative viewed which means that it passes muster in terms
of correctness.

Subject: [TMG] Capitalization in memos

> I hate to ask almost the same question again, but I'm wondering if there's
a workaround for this situation regarding how memos that are not part of the
sentence structure are handled in reports:
>
> Case 1: If in Publication Tools, I select "Embedded", then a semicolon is
appended to the tag sentence, followed by the memo text, e.g. "Tag sentence;
memo text." In this case, the first word of the memo text should NOT be
capitalized if it is to look right. Selecting "Embedded (parentheses)" is
similar with regard to capitalization.
>
> Case 2: If I instead select "Endnotes" for the memo option, then the memo
text is in an endnote following a note number, e.g. "1) Memo text." In this
case, the first word should be capitalized or it will look really strange,
especially if the memo text has multiple sentences.

embedded or endnotes, because otherwise I can't enter them with proper
capitalization. Am I missing something here? It sure seems like this would
be something that would be easy for TMG to do on the fly.
