Subject: [TMG] Appendix Possibility

I am toying with an idea and I would like to ask some of the more savvy
users for their ideas regarding feasibility, pitfalls, etc. of my concept.

I would like to generate a book from my dataset that would have only text
and pictures of people in the main part. I would like all of the images of
documents (censuses, deeds, etc.) attached as an appendix. Please advise if
this would work:

I would make sure that every image that I saved had a caption (so it would
actually print on the page) on it that identified it, either by a name (1850
Graves Co., KY census; Michael Dowdy family) or had a page number label on
it (this is my preference; ex. "Appendix C-1 [or somesuch other
designation]). Then I would create a person called "appendix." For each
person to whom I wanted to cross-reference to this appendix and the images
contained therein, I would create a tag (title undecided at the moment).
The memo field would say "See Appendix C-1" and the sentences for both
principals and witnesses would contain only the memo field. I could then
either copy this tag to all people to whom this particular image applied or
apply it to a principal and link witnesses. When I made the report for the
"appendix" person, I would make sure the pages came out unnumbered so that
the numbers saved within the context of the caption would be the guiding
page identifiers.

Would this work? Will this accomplish what I want it to do? Any pitfalls
or loopholes in my design? Open to all suggestions. I would just prefer to
have the narrative portion be as clean as possible from images other than
photos of the people referred to in the narrative, but I would like to
capture documents, etc. that relate to them and have a notation in the text
to see the appendix with an actual reference to a page or document name
contained within the appendix itself so it is easy to find.

Thoughts???
