I originally had TMG set to back up to the CD directly, and it worked, but
with a potential danger. When your screen says the backup is finished, the
CD-RW is still working. There are usually one of two more pauses and writes
to disk after the screen message, before the process is complete. If you
respond to the screen rather than checking the activity lights on the drive,
you can eject too soon. Then when you go to use the disk, it will indicate
a corrupted file and say you should copy all your information elsewhere and
replace the disk. Since I use RW disks rather than R disks for this, I
could just run a CD repair to fix everything but the TMG backup file. But
to avoid problems, I backup TMG to my Temp file -- several times in a long
day -- and copy the final backup to CD at the end of the day.
