You can find Characters Special when you are in any text field, by hitting Tools,
Character Maps. However, I do not know how you find the Umlauts that you use in
different languages. I posted a system using the Alt plus Numbers key to get the
character to print. I had a title of How To Type Umlauts. Disregard my previous
answers as one of the sites is no longer up.
