Hi, all:
There is one reason, and if it applies as it usually does it is a good one,
not to use italics for quotations. Most people "see" italics as some sort
of emphasis. Italics draws attention to the text so formatted. At the same
time, it is less readable for extended passages in most type families. If
that weren't true, then italics would be seen as just another normal type
style for general use. I think you will find your readers grateful if you
do NOT use italics too very much, if not because of the Chicago Style
Police then because you would be doing their eyes a favor.
