Hi,
I purchased the 1880 Census CD's at the NGS Conference in Portland. I
must say I was rather disappointed to find that they were abstractions and
did not give the date they were taken or the family # or line number but
then I did get enough to easily find them on the actual census films.
Do be careful though--Looking for my grandfather Coit Edwin Gibson I
was unable to find him (he was a few months old). Since I already have a
copy of the that census I went back and looked up his father and there was
Coit with his name spelled Colson!!!
Moral of that story is you have to know the EXACT SPELLING. What is great
is you can click on the neighbors and lo and behold there were some children
out of the house.
