Unfortunately, soundex does not always take care of these .. especially if
they start with a K rather than a C. There is another name that I always
have to look up twice .. SCROGGINS and SCOGGINS. It would be nice to have a
place for the 'normal' spelling and then use the actual spelling. Right now
I just put in all the NAME-VAR with each spelling. I try to keep the
primary as the baptism or birth spelling .. I have several NAME-VAR for my
German families as the first name on baptism is not necessarily the name
they used .. and of course, that changed as the immigrated to America.

Subject: Re: [TMG] Index Codes
It seems to me that it would make sense to have a field that would have a
"common spelling" of the name. This way every name could be entered as it
was normally spelled, but there would be a field that could be sorted on
and would sort each surname together.
Or does soundex take care of this problem?
