You should also be aware that none of your photos or other exhibits will
import into TMG from FTM. You will have to do that manually. TMG 5.0 which
should be available soon will, however, be able to import the images, so you
may want to keep that in mind.

You will need to tell FTM to export to a FTM 8.0 file, this will loose none
of your genealogical data, maybe a few report settings or maybe information
in the family finder report. This data will not come into TMG anyway.
Exporting to GEDCOM will have all the losses you described.
