Yup, The MSL is YOUR MSL. In other words, it is only going to hold the
sources that you have looked at and cited. My MSL would be totally
different.
Here is how I understand it and maybe others will elaborate.

A Source is any document, film, book, person, tombstone, CD, letter, etc that
contains information that you want to document in your genealogy.
A Citation is just a method of telling your reader how to find that source.
That is why you have a repository, a page number, a volume number etc.
A CD or Citation Detail is information that pertains only to that one record.
So we have a Source that is a letter.
It is found in the possession of Bobby Smith, Rockvale, Tn.

The letter says that Bobby Smith married Robert Jones on 23 Dec 1905. She
wore a red dress because she loved red. We could put "She wore a red dress,
because she loved red." in the memo field, and in our source, we would put
Bobby Smith, letter. And our CD might say "She described in detail her
wedding day in her letter." We can also use it for a page number if our
source is a large book and we are sourcing many pages of the book.
