James - I forgot to mention that not only can you embed citations in the
Memo fields, but you can embed them in the sentence structure as well (at
least in version 5.0x. It has been so long since I have used 4.0d that I
don't recall if you can embed in the sentence structure at the Tag Entry
level.).

Cheri,
I haven't really been following this thread (information overload), but I
also hate a series of numbers at the end of a sentence. Having the numbers
appear within the sentence would be more appealing (I'm sure others
disagree). But after a quick check of the Help file (I'm still in v4), it
seems that this can be done only by putting an imbedded citation into the
memo field of event tags. So if, for example, I have one source supporting
the date of birth, another supporting the location, trying to make an
imbedded citation in the memo field seems possible but not easy. I was
hoping far a toggle that would just globally put the endnote reference
numbers next to the data they support. Oh well.
Do could you give an example of how you use the imbedded citation -- so it
can get me thinking?
Thanks,
James Colgate
