I had a ggg uncle who joined the 23rd VA Cavalry late in the war at the age
of 16.

He lived to be 99, and the family joke was that if he had made it to 100
the South would have won the war. (Every time he told his tales, during the
83 years he lived after the war, he had killed a few more Yankees.)
