That is the way I do it.

My 1901 Census type is Census, Federal Filmed
Here is an example of the output:
Captain Benjamin Edward Reinhard and Laura Grace Parks appeared in the
Census on 20 Apr 1901 at Parks Creek, Ritcey's Cove, Lunenburg County,
NS, and Grace Reinhardt, Jessie Reinhardt, Edwin Reinhardt, and William
Mortimer Reinhardt were in the household. He was Methodist and a
mariner; she and the children were Presbyterian. The house was wood,
one story and one family with 9 rooms on 1/2 acre.
My Citation is: 1901 Canada Census, District 37, Lunenburg County,
Sub-District E, Ritceys Cove, Page 14, Line 14, Dwelling 118, Family
118.
I feel the place information spells out the province.
I enter the actual date of enumeration. I have found enough times that
the information was not as of the Census Date, in this case 31 Mar 1901
but as of the actual enumeration date. I enter the place as shown in
the Census, in this case adding Parks' Creek.
Regarding roles in the Census. I do not use roles as I have found work
around. However I am rethinking this approach base on what beth wrote
on 16 Dec:

The above example appears to me to be a reasonable and simple use of
roles in the census. If you are starting to set up your Census Tag/s
then incorporating roles now will save a lot of work if you decide to do
it later.
