A similar thing can be seen with a photo-copier. Take anything and make a
reproduction using the copier. You can make any number of copies at the
same time or later from the original. This corresponds to opening and
closing the .jpg file. Now take one of those copies and reproduce it with
the copier. Take the result and do the same thing. Keep doing this more
than a few times and the final result with be a copy that looks nothing
like the original and is probably unrecognizable at best. This is
comparable ot opening the .jpg file as saving it (as opposed to closing it).
