In my copy of v.4 you cannot use the 'add' procedure, either by the button
or by the drop-down menu, for people already in the dataset, only for _new_
people. In the Tag List, if you choose Son-Ado you will get those questions.
Son-Nat is not in the regular list of Tags. If I add that as a new tag I do
not get those questions, but only the view for filling in the information
for a _new_ person. In my program v.5 works exactly the same was as v.4.

Ole, you are talking about two completely different situations. You asked
about connecting parents who are in your database to a child who is in your
database. In the 'add a "Son-Nat"', you are adding a _new_ person to the
database, and then you get those questions.
........
(OBD) Obviousely, in TMG 4 you can use this routine for both new entrants
and existing ones.
I very much would like that in 5.0x also.
Whats the harm in that?
..........

It is not the best procedure to put someone in the database with the thought
of later establishing the connections. Put them in the database by using the
'Add' procedure, and then the relationships are easy.
..........
(OBD) Having ca 13.000 persons in the database (of which 8.000 has been
entered via TMG v3 & 4) I often encounter the situation where eg. a new
marriage found allready has one or more children entered maybe years ago.
Of course I agree with you that the "Add" procedure is the best to use.
Maybe it could be enhanced so that existing persons cold be attached as well
as new entrants.

Regards
Ole Bjørn
