Off list, I was asked if IMatch would catalog other than image files.
I replied, "As far as I know, IMatch is for image files only."
As I think about this more, I have hundreds of text files that are
images and thus I can catalog them. Taking this a step farther, we
represent a lot of things with icons. An icon is an image and could
represent any type of file. A picture of Elvis in Blue Swede Shoes
could represent a music file. One could scan an album cover and use
that image to list the tracks on that album.
Don't take me wrong. I an not suggesting that I will throw out MS
Access in favor of IMatch. But if a user does not have a relational
database program, IMatch might do a nice job. I also note that IMatch
has an image editor. That does not mean I will abandon PhotoShop but
for someone who needs an image editor, that alone might be worth the
price for IMatch. If you don't have a way to catalog files or edit
images, $50 for IMatch might be money well spent.
Since IMatch is very new to me, Paul might add to this idea of
cataloging other files. It should not be a problem to query a database
for Properties that contain "Christmas", or any other word or phrase,
and get a list of albums that contain that word or phrase in a track
title.
