Roger - There is a way do some indexing inside of TMG, I am just unfamiliar
with the concept as generated reports can result in indexing. There are
several people on this list, including Andy, who do extensive indexing.

I do not know Mr. Gillis nor do I know Mr. Bernier. Mr. Bernier
surely has the right to express his frustration and opinion about the
"capabilities" of Mr. Velke and Wholly Genes. It won't be long
before we read that someone who complains and offers constructive
criticism about TMG5 is "unpatriotic" and surely must be thrashed
before a board of Texas mounties.
I have used Roots 2 through all of the multiple upgrades including
Roots 5 and Ultimate Family Tree and now TMG4 and TMG5. The amount
of time converting, correcting, and editing is appalling. I wish I
had the foresight to accept the claims some have about TMG5 but I am
not so sure that the promises will be kept. For example, neither has
an indexing capability for reports nor will they have one outside of
exporting to Word or some other word processing program. To me that
makes TMG4 and TMG5 very inadequate and must be improved. Roots3 had
one years ago...it worked quite nicely. Other computer genealogical
programs have report indexing capabilities but not some of the
features that either TMG4 or TMG5 has.
Will I or should I switch to another program? Probably not. Don't
have the time to learn and edit another program. At least for the
moment, anyway.
And I surely won't switch because Mr. Bernier is unhappy...I am also.
I surely won't switch to please Mr. Gillis.
It would be great if Mr. Velke would provide "honest" and "realistic"
time tables for release of upgrades. Periodic updates might, and I
say this advisedly, might minimize some of the justified criticisms
of him and his company, Wholly Genes.
So...back to the data entry and editing...
