Last time I checked, conditional variables did not work in Name Styles.

There is one special rules for literals in Name Styles. If you put

([Title])

in a Name Style template, the parentheses will be suppressed if Title is empty.
To my knowledge, that is the only case where literal text is conditional. I
can't recall if I tried double quotes...
