<<I don't know, but probably a similar entry to a citation for an early land
patent/grant. You might consider using the Bounty-Land File Source Type
from Mills (below) maybe with some modifications.
[NAME OF PERSON] [RECORD TYPE]<; [FILE NUMBER]>< [CD]>; [SERIES]; [RECORD
GROUP]; [REPOSITORY], [REPOSITORY ADDRESS].
The Record Type entry might be "Homestead Application". You may want to
include the
Location Source Element to enter the state/territory. Also, the
Memo/Comments Source Element might be included somewhere with additional
information. I am unsure ans to what Series and/or Record Group might be
used for.>>
Thanks Lee,
I came up with this:
Eli St John Homestead Application, Salina, Kansas; Application number 23458;
Final Receipt number 9684<, [CD]>. Copy in possession of Patt Ricketts,
Redondo Beach, California.
There seem to be 3 relevant dates in the file, date of original homestead,
date of testimony of claimant showing he had done what was necessary to finalize
the homestead and date of final receipt (approval of homestead). I assume
they would probably go in the CD although they are the same in every case so it
would be nice to include them in the template.
Can you think of anything else?
Patt Ricketts
