I had a damaged project and Wholly Genes' tech support did an excellent job
of restoring it for me.

I, too, am a technical writer and happened to have worked at Microsoft
during my career. Of course they can hire resources to do nothing but
monitor their forums; they have millions of dollars and thousands of
employees. Wholly Genes is a small company with just a handful of employees.
Nevertheless, I've gotten excellent help on several occasions from their
tech support. All it took was a simple telephone call. Which is free, by the
way. Microsoft will charge you some very serious dollars if you need any
support for one of their products.
