Teresa,

What a good point you make. We should always look at chancery (or equity, or
whatever they are called in each state) for additional information on estates.
We don't have estate packets here in Virginia (unfortunately). But I recently
found a chancery case with about 150 pages for someone's ancestor who died in
1844 here that included all of the accounts and other valuable information
for that person who died in 1844. The chancery case was 40 years after the death
of the person.

You can thank Hiram Eady. This was an actual case I had, where his wife
died and the children had to sue their father again to have the mother's
estate redivided. The court battles went on for a long while after her
death.
