Yes, that is exactly what I want. All I get are the current repositories. I
will have to try it again.

Any information I give that you can't find in your version of TMG 5.1 is
probably due to customization on my part.

Teresa, when I create a new repository (in 5.11) it works the way you seem
to want it to. That is, I access the Repository Definition screen via the
Tools menu, type something in Abbreviation and in Name - Other, then
position the cursor in a place field such as city. When I hit F2 I get my
whole master place list to pick from, not just prior repository addresses.
Isn't this what you want it to do? If so, your TMG is working differently
than mine.

What I want to do is make a place say the Memphis Public Library which I
have used as a place in TMG into a repository. Currently I have to create a
new repository record. Then use F3 to put in the information or retype it.
I can't use F2 to look at ALL the places in my dataset, it will only show
the other repositories. Then when I create the new repository, even though
it is exactly like the place Memphis Public Library, it creates a new place.
Then I have to run OPTIMIZE, and it will combine them. Ideally what I would
like to do is be able to F2 and see all the places in my dataset, and then
be able to select one of those to turn into a repository.

What field are you meaning here? A Repository in TMG consists of to
general fields -- the name of the Repository and it location. The location
fields utilize and are stored as entries in the Master Place List (MPL) in
the same way and _may_be_the_same_ if the entry is the same as has been
entered in a Tag.
So if some has a Residence Tag reporting that the person resided at:
Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee And if you have a Repository for
the Memphis Public Library located at:
Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee Then there will only be a single
place entry in the MPL for:
Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee
Now if you decide that the Repository need not print the County and Exclude
the County, then there will be two entries in the MPL as follows:
Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee
Memphis, -Shelby County, Tennessee If you then decide to Exclude
the County for the same reason in the Residence Tag, then there will likely
be two entries in the MPL as follows:
Memphis, -Shelby County, Tennessee
Memphis, -Shelby County, Tennessee until you Optimize the project
and then only one entry of the two will be in the MPL.
Hope this helps -
