Myrnice,
Thanks for the focus group tip. I had not advanced that far and intend to
put it to very good use.
Unfortunately the filter you suggested pulls too many people (719) as it
picks up anyone with an 1880 census tag, too.
I just tried a variation on it and got 139 people:
Death Group Year Includes 1880 END
It came up with all my before <Date> entries and aft <dates> with a span
that "includes" 1880. A search for "Contains" 1880 sounds like it might
work better ... if, as it sounds, the year 1880 would have to be "contained"
in the field. But it is possible "contains" would yield the same result as
"includes, picking up all my broader ranges...
Does anyone use the Contains '?' operator? How does it work? I just tried
it for the birth group and got the same results, no opportunity to enter a
value and a list of zero people.
Sorry to be a pest but I can see this operator as very helpful.
From a dedicated new user just trying to learn the "ins and outs."
Thanks again,
Jan

Any filter that works for the List of People report should also work for
the Project Explorer. By right clicking on the PE and selecting the
"All" option, you can move all of the individuals in the filtered PE
into a Focus Group and delete them as they are fixed. Then save the
remainder for the next session if it takes more than one.
