TMG loses the distinction because it stores "regular" dates in a
standardized form. This includes a 1 digit field for modifier which includes
all of before, after, from, between, circa, and say (I may be missing some).
Regular dates are one area where TMG specifically does NOT hold to the
no-change rule, as it needs a standardized format to do the math, and it
allows for adjusting how dates are presented globally. Sometimes I wish TMG
had a 3 part date (instead of data/sort date) with one field for a free form
display date, a second for the "normalized" date, and a third sort date.
This would allow an entry in the free form field to force a given output,
while still allowing TMG to compute ages. The sort date could be
significantly striped in abilities since its only purpose is for sorting. It
would also be nice if it had a "sub-day" field to allow sorting of events on
the same day.
