When I joined this list a year ago, having just purchased TMG, I soon realized that it is a hydra!

Matter of fact, I dropped off the list for a while so I could get other (more important <G>) things done.

I describe the program to my genny friends, especially the Luddites among them, as "a database run by
techno-genealogists". It will always be evolving, because of the nature of the people on this list.
Because of the apparent "openness" of the program, several of you have developed third party programs to
help the rest of us.

I'm sure some of you have been on lists for the other programs, such as FTM, and know that this level of
expertise and enterprise simply doesn't exist there.

Now, for "my" wish list. Could some of you develop more, better, exciting, REPORTS? <G> And, after you do
that, create a slick program to move ALL my data onto a gedcom so I can share it with my less fortunate
kin.

Thanks to all. You have helped me, and I am having more fun than ever. One day I'll feel as though I can
help others, I hope.

The "other things" are piling up again though.. . .

Pat

So, after purchasing TMG you need (1) John Cardinal's utility (at a minimum this is just about a
requirement), (2) Second Site, (3) Wit2Note, (4) PathWhiz, and (5) a macro program. If you wish to move
your data to a Pocket PC or PDA you need additional device software to accomplish that because there is no
TMG compatible program for these devices such as exists for PAF.

Hmmm.

Sounds like one of those urban legends to me. Keep in mind that TMG5 is
an entirely different program than TMG4. And one objective of development
has been to have the supported features of TMG4 (in a general sense)
available in TMG5. Also keep in mind that there are many differences between
TMG4 and TMG5.

The keyboard macro feature that Steve Warling was asking about was never an
'official' supported part of TMG4. Only a handful of people knew that it
existed, fewer people knew how to actually use it, and even fewer people
actually used it.

There are much better third-party keyboard macro programs available to fill
this niche. If any people are using such programs, please post your
suggestions about which to use. If there are some good suggestions, a
addition can be made to the WG FAQ how-to section.
