Thanks Kirk. Yes, I know about the heat needs. <G> Actually battery life
isn't that big to me, since 99% of the time I run of AC. This information
will be very handy when I do get ready to purchase. I mainly run TMG, so I
want a computer that is optimized for that. All other programs come in
second. <G>

Make sure you understand the difference between the Centrino and the
Celeron. The Intel Centrino processor is made just for laptops, conserving
battery life, etc, but while the processor clock is less then a Pentium 4,
its internal structure and operations should make it very close in
preformance when compared to a Pentium 4.
A laptop with a Pentium 4 will be heavy because of the need for cooling fans
and heat sinks. Pentium 4 laptops may not have a good of battery life as
the Centrino.
A Celeron is just a Pentium 4 processor that did not pass all of its cache
tests in manufacture, so some of the level 1 or 2 cache is 'turned off'.
This cache plays an important roll in pre-fetching stuff from memory and the
hard drive. When there is less, the open or save of files, etc will take
longer because much of the file has be to read directly from the hard drive
rather then memory. Once a file is loaded and there is lots of ram in the
machine, operations should be about the same.
For my money, any of the later versions of the Centrino (with built in
802.11g) or Pentium 4 Mobile processors should make great laptops.

I am looking at possibly getting a larger laptop. I can get a Celeron for
about $400 cheaper than a Pentium 4. I have always ran TMG on a Pentium.
Does anyone have experience with running it on a Celeron. Also, is there
anyone using a hyper threading machine and did you notice any speed
difference over a non-hyper threading machine?
Plus will I notice a big difference in speed over 512 MB of memory vs.
1GB?
