Thanks. My first priority is a 17" monitor and most of those come with
hyperthreading. I think a 3.02 GHZ machine should be good for a few more
years. <G>

Hi, Teresa:
Yes, it's overkill if you pay extra for it. Neither genealogy programs nor
photo editing requires the kind of processing that hyper threading gives
you. If you want to run other programs that take advantage of it, then
that's a different matter.
Here would be my priorities. First, max out your screen size and resolution.
Second, max out your memory. Third, max out your "equivalent" CPU speed
(ask). Fourth, max out your hard drive *speed* and capacity. Then add
goodies as the mood takes you.
