The two-letter United States postal codes were designed by the United
States Postal Service, for the United States Postal Service, to
facilitate the addressing and delivery of mail within the United States.
They serve that purpose admirably, and are seldom fit for use for any
other purpose, and especially not for general correspondence or other
literary efforts, including genealogy. One might just as appropriately
include the nine-digit Zip+4 code. ;>P
