Gosh, I hope I never need the whole buildings holdings either. <G> But you
get the idea. This might not be that grand a scheme if you only have one
family in an area, but my families tended to live in the same area for
generations, and when they did migrate to another area, several branches for
different sides migrated together. Currently in one VA county I am working
on, my husband's father side lived in the same area as my mother's mother's
side. I have even found some of his family selling land to my family,
although I have yet to find any relationship. So it's not unusual for me to
find several deeds or wills I need on a roll of film. I also find it
beneficial to use the same repository for my source once it is created, so
the roll of film is always quoted the same way in my sources.
Having said that, I do have repositories that are libraries, or people.
Most of those have still have their holdings in the original binders or
books and don't have any of it inventoried. And some I haven't had time to
convert. I don't think either way is correct. Some people's tasks may be
looser, like "Find Grandpa." Mine tend to be more specific "copy page 43-49
of deed book A."
My films I ordered have finally came in, so tomorrow, I guess I will get
to test out the system a little more. <G>

If you only had three...or even 40 or so, you could key a list by
hand into Excel, QuattroPro or whatever - adding to that list as you added
to your repositories in TMG.

or a whole |state, or even for all the holdings of a single building.
Wow -- that's quite a comprehensive list to maintain. I guess I'd
rather just buy the genie libraries holdings books as they are updated, or
keep track of the Family History Library catalog on line etc. I doubt I'd
need all of the holdings of a single building.
