I gave an incomplete answer.

When you have a shared events in the same tag type group with the same two
people, only one of those can be marked primary for each person. They do not
need to be the same event. So, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with a
shared event being primary for one of the principals and non-primary for the
other.

You need to check and make sure that this is not the case. For example, the
shared events in the marriage group might be engagement and marriage or some
other standard or custom tag. The person with the non-primary marriage tag
might be marked primary on the engagement tag.
