That's exactly what I did when I recently re-built my wife's computer
- added a new drive to use as the primary drive, and installed Windows
on it. I made the old primary drive a slave, and was able to copy all
sorts of valuable stuff off it - like her favorite fonts, the
configuration files from several apps, after I re-installed them, the
sound file she likes for arrival of new mail, etc. <g> Worked like a
charm.
