I also use the journal report. On the main screen I check "Use The Focus
Person" so the report works for whatever person is on my screen. I print to
file (choose an appropriate software and file location). Then hit the
"Options" button in the bottom left corner. That brings up a bunch of tabs
that you should scroll through and see whether any of the optional settings
are of interest. I have a few that I like:

On the "General" tab: check "Custom Format" and set the # of generations.

On the "Sources" tab: endnotes unique

On the "Tags" tab: all

On the "Miscellaneous" tab: include spouse events (this was a key one for me
that some other kind soul from this list pointed out to me).

Don't be surprised to find that some of your sentences read funny. I didn't
really begin to understand how to input into the memo field until I started
to print journal reports. Now when I enter something a bit different or
into a new type of tag, I quick check by popping out a 2-generation journal
report or an individual narrative to see what the output will look like,
then fix as required. It is actually quite quick to do that sort of check.
Sometimes I fix the sentence structure in that tag to do what I want; other
times I adjust the way I have input the data so that the program defaults
work as intended.

Like Terry I use MS Word and do a bit of editing before sending. I set up
and generate the index in 3 columns and the endnotes in two (and reduce the
font size), delete a few excess blank lines and add a nice title page; that
sort of thing.
